On February 1st I flew to Indonesia to purchase fabric needed for our first refugee women to make our first set of bags. This is a big step towards making Burlap & Cashmere come to life! To read more about our vision in helping refugee women in America, read about us here. I was able to bring back 2 very full suitcases of beautiful fabric! The fabric market was shop after shop of beautiful material. It went on for about 4 blocks.
While I was there I had to check out more local markets, including a fruit and vegetable market to see how the locals eat. So many different kinds! It was very colorful!! There were some things that I could recognize and some that I had never seen before.
Here are some of the other local foods.
In the evening, the children would come out and try to sell you things while you waited at a red light. This little girl was selling newspapers. They also sell bottles of water and snacks.
It was a great trip and I can't wait to go back!
